Addressing noise in engine, drivetrain, and vehicle design can be a complicated science. There are many causes of noise and vibration in an engine, and many evolving techniques for designing a quiet, pleasant sounding engine. Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) maintains a comprehensive capability for noise source and signal analysis, model-based simulations, structural dynamics, and sound quality evaluation.

SwRI's globally recognized staff has extensive experience in engine noise evaluation and assessment, source and path evaluation, as well as component design and remedial action for low noise.
