Aerospace Systems Engineering Section

Aerospace Systems Engineering performs projects and activities related to Condition Based Maintenance and major aircraft subsystems, including propulsion, avionics, electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic systems primarily for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) and Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex (OC-ALC) located at Tinker Air Force Base. Similar work is performed for other government agencies, commercial clients and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

SwRI staff members provide engineering expertise for projects concerned with technology insertion; reliability and maintainability improvement; hardware reverse engineering and redesign for mature subsystems; avionics modifications; advanced fault detection and diagnostics; software development to support web-based and thick client-based database applications and analysis tools; web services; support equipment functionality; system automation; process and performance improvement; technical manual development ; and specialized testing for a variety of weapon systems including B-1, B-2, B-52, E-3 and KC-135 aircraft, as well as F100, F101, F108, F110, F118, T56, TF33, TF34, and TF39 engines, cruise missiles, and Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATCALS).
